Dear Valdosta Daily Times Editor, message boards, concerned citizens and beyond

On 12 July 06, the Valdosta Daily Times published a rant concerning Lowndes County Jailed inmates. ”Why should inmates be entitled to A/C? There are some innocent people that have not committed a crime in Valdosta that cannot afford it. So they can do without A/C because we are tired of paying for it. They should also cut off the cable TV in the jail so the inmates can think about what they did wrong and try to correct.

Again, this renter need to see the ruling of the Honorable Judge Hugh Lawson of U.S. District Courts Order and Consent decree Civil Action #89-54-VAL of the Middle District of Georgia Valdosta Division rendered in October 1997, (now expired).

Moreover, the person doing the rant must understand that too many jailed inmates must wait for over a year to have their day in court. This was one of the 105 discrepancies identified by U.S District Court Judge Hugh Lawson in his ruling in October 1997. See:
So its sad that people in Valdosta-Lowndes County Georgia are so ill informed, and that lack of knowledge is published for all to see. The complete names of deceased inmates have NEVER, EVER, EVER, been published in any newspaper or broadcast on any local television station at one time to inform the public.
Therefore, the media must allow citizens to see the real world situation of a free press instead of pressed free to maintain the status quo of 1860.
